Labor Day: A Day Full Of Gratitude and Appreciation
Have you ever wondered where the food you eat comes from? Have you ever looked at a product and wondered, "How did they make this?" Would you be able to bear the things that laborers do if you were a laborer? In this blog article, I'll talk about labor and the significance of Labor Day in the Philippines.
Labor Day is celebrated in the Philippines every first of May. This is a public holiday, and it gives everyone a break from work. There are many workers in the Philippines - people who work up to eight (8) hours a day and still get a very low salary; people who produce food for us to eat; people who give their time, strength, talents, and intelligence for us to enjoy a good life. During the Labor Day celebration, these hardworking people are appreciated and given gratitude. Their works, be it small or big, are acknowledged. Their efforts for this world to keep spinning are seen and valued. There are also people (particularly in Metro Manila) who protest during Labor Day to voice out the workers' need of higher salary and better treatment.
May we appreciate our laborers not only during the Labor Day but also daily. A simple "Thank you, po!" said to a cashier means a lot. Cleaning up after eating in a restaurant makes the job of fast food workers easier and it will surely brightens their day. Also, let us not forget to appreciate all of the things that our mothers do for us because being a housewife is one of the toughest jobs out there.
