The Children

“Kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan”, a famous line from our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. This is a famous saying in the Philippines and almost everyone know this line. The children, with their creative and ambitious minds and dreams as high as skyscrapers, are indeed the hope of our country’s future. On every month of November, the Philippines conduct the National Children’s Month to remember and celebrate the rights of every Filipino children. The theme for this year’s National Children's Month is “Kalusugan, kaisipan, at kapakanan ng bawat bata ating tutukan!”

The children are individuals who also have rights and roles in our society. They have the right to be educated, to be loved, to be sheltered, to have food to eat, and to live a comfortable life. The children must always be guided by their parents or guardian for them to achieve their aspirations and minimize the struggles that they will be facing. They must be protected from any danger that their surroundings might cause. In addition, the children’s talents and gifts should be honed and improved for them to shine their brightest. Every children deserves to experience the great feeling of living in a healthy environment. Let us not treat the children like they do not matter. In our society today, a lot of children have mental health issues caused by many factors such as peers, family, financial problems, and school. Let us see to it that we do not invalidate their feelings and say that it is their fault why they are suffering. Let us also stop the mindset that they should not mingle in the issues that the society is facing. The children have the right to know what’s happening and intervene because the future of our country is also theirs, they will also be affected on the actions that doing today.

The future of our country is in the hands of the children. If we take good care of them, we will have a country full of professionals and talented individuals. If we'll let them on their own, our country will soon be living in chaos. But, even with all of these, we should not force the children to do the things that we want them to do. They did not ask to be born and they do not have anything to pay the society nor their parents for. Let us not put the world in the children’s backs, instead, let’s help them rule the world and create a brighter future for all of us.
